Instructional Highlights – Room 510

Would you like green eggs and ham?! March 2nd marked a special day for Midland students – Dr. Seuss’s birthday! Last week, Ms. Twilley’s class enjoyed watching a read-aloud video of the Dr. Seuss classic, Green Eggs and Ham. Students practiced answering the WH Questions including:

Who are the characters?
What was the book about?
Where did the story take place?

After the reading session, students enjoyed a creative activity. Each student received a cut and paste coloring activity, aimed at practicing their fine motor skills, forming opinions, and using their imagination. The worksheet challenged students to answer the question, “Would you eat Green Eggs and Ham?” – and the majority answered a resounding, “Yes!”

Green Eggs and Ham wasn’t the only Dr. Seuss book that students enjoyed. Ms. Twilley’s class also read the story, Oh, the Places You’ll Go. Students had the opportunity to consider all the things they can hope for and achieve as they continue to grow and learn throughout the school year.  Dr. Seuss said it best in his book, Oh, The Places You’ll Go, “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.”
