Geoffrey K. Allen

Read Geoffrey's Bio

Mr. Allen is Executive Vice President and National Professional Services Practice Leader, FINEX North America Practice of Willis Towers Watson, Short Hills, NJ.  Prior to Willis Towers Watson, Mr. Allen was President, Minet Global Media Services and Global Specialty Coordinator Professional Liability reporting to the Chairman of Minet.

Mr. Allen received his BA from Franklin & Marshall College. Mr. Allen was a visiting Fellow in Finance and Risk Management at the Media Center, New York Law School.  He is a frequent national and international speaker on risk and insurance for Professional Services Firms and the evolving Cyber threat.

Mr. Allen has over 30 years of involvement with Midland.  His son is an alumnus of The Midland School and is active with the Midland School Alumni Association.  Mr. Allen joined The Midland Corporation Board in 2000.

John Cunningham

Mr. Cunningham is Executive Vice President and National Co-Chair of the Life Sciences Advisory at Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) specializing exclusively in office leasing and sales, providing Tenant Representation Services throughout New Jersey and Nationally. Mr. Cunningham is presently Co-Chair of the Life Sciences Advisory serving the specialized needs of the Pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies in New Jersey and around the world. Mr. Cunningham received his college education at Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio.

Civic or Public Service Activities:  Biotech Counsel of New Jersey, and New Jersey Technology Council and past Board member of the Morris County Economics Development Corporation. Mr. Cunningham has been a licensed New Jersey real estate salesperson since 1987.

Mr. Cunningham was named to the Midland School Board in June, 2006 and became a member of the Midland Corporation Board in June 2012.  Mr. Cunningham has been a volunteer at the school during the building of the school playground as well as at the Midland Run and participating in the run.  He has been a financial supporter of Midland for many years.  He has volunteered as Chair of the Midland School Membership committee.  Mr. Cunningham currently serves as Chair of the Facility / Technology Committee; serves on the Governance / Membership Committee and is Chair of the Midland Golf Outing Committee.

Lenore Dunn

Ms. Dunn retired from her position as the Vice President of Retail Operations at PVH Corporation, Bridgewater, NJ in March 2019. In her previous role, Ms. Dunn prepared and managed a $115m store payroll budget for 600+ retails stores across three brands in the US, Canada, Puerto Rico and Guam. Prepared and managed a $15m field operating budget for 8 cost centers across the US and Canada, oversaw development and implementation of operational policies for PVH retail stores, developed training programs for retail store associates as well as all field supervisors. Ms. Dunn graduated from FDU in Teaneck, NJ with a BA in Psychology.

Ms. Dunn sat on PVH Cares Committee and lead customer contribution campaigns to raised in excess of $9m for various charities through customer contribution campaigns. $1.6m in 2013 for various charities. She helped raise $1.3m in 2012 and $1.2m in 2011 for various charities through customer contribution campaigns.  Ms. Dunn was recognized for service in Save the Children fundraising efforts, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for fundraising efforts, and Elijah’s Promise 2007 and 2008 for volunteerism.

Ms. Dunn became a member of the Midland Foundation Board of Trustees in June 2013 where she served on various fund-raising committees.  Ms. Dunn has supported the organization in many ways, generously giving both time and money to Midland’s programs. Through Ms. Dunn’s employment with PVH, Midland school graduates have found employment, and PVH is a training site for students in Midland’s transition from school to work program.  Ms. Dunn currently serves on the Advancement and Finance / Audit Committees.

Krasimira Hristov

Ms. Hristov currently works at Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) as a Director of Research & Development in the MedTech sector.  She has more than 25 years of global multi-industry experience. She began her career in JNJ as an R&D Engineer at Ethicon.  Before joining JNJ, Ms. Hristov worked in South Africa in the textile engineering field.  Ms. Hristov holds a MSc. in Mechanical Engineering from Philadelphia University, and a Masters of Public Health from Rutgers University.

Ms. Hristov is actively involved in numerous humanitarian missions and non-profit causes, including Iowa MOST – a cleft lip and palate repair team in Guatemala, an “Operation Smile” leadership committee, and Talent for Good programs.

Ms. Hristov has a passion for global public health, mentoring, community development, and quality improvement.  Ms. Hristov was named to the Midland Corporation Board in August, 2016.  She serves on the Strategic Planning / Personnel Committees and will offer support in forming strategic partnerships.

Jennifer Johnston

Ms. Jennifer Johnson is the President of Top Safety Products (TSP), a women-owned small business based in Branchburg that assembles and customizes first aid and safety products.

Ms. Johnson is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University. Her non-profit experience includes membership in the “Friends of Florham”—a nonprofit with the mission to maintain and preserve the historic Twombly Estate at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is also an active member of the Minutemen Sports Club and Booster Club at West Morris Mendham High School.

Johnson’s involvement with Midland began in 2018 with a partnership to launch Midland’s first Supported Employment Enclave program which places individuals at a work site of an employer where they work under the supervision of a Midland Job Coach.

In 2019, Midland recognized Top Safety Products as its 2019 Employer of the Year for their commitment to ensuring that the individuals employed in the enclave are fully integrated with the Top Safety team and doing meaningful work.

Ms. Johnson became a member of The Midland Corporation Board of Trustees in 2021. She currently serves on The Midland Foundation’s “Move for Midland” Fundraising Committee.

Peter Lega

Mr. Lega has over 32 years of experience in technology, strategy, and management, ranging from operating system development to managing director of equity trading at Bear Stearns. He currently works as Global Lead of IT Strategy Realization Engineering at Merck. Since 2005, Mr. Lega has held various leadership positions at Merck in technology and strategy including financial and management responsibilities for large programs and teams.

Mr. Lega holds a BSc in Computer Science from Moravian University and completed graduate coursework in Computer Science at Stevens Institute of Technology.

Mr. Lega has been an active contributor to the local community. He is an Eagle Scout and served as an adult leader of Cub and Boy Scout troops. Mr. Lega is a technology advisor for his local church and diocese, designing and installing IT systems for high-volume soup kitchens and outreach centers. At Merck, he established two academic partnerships with universities to expose students to public health and technology to solve real-world problems. Mr. Lega consistently advances and leads teams that include mentoring interns, non-traditional background apprentices, and emerging talent.

Mr. Lega has been a life-long advocate for his brother, Jonathan, who graduated from The Midland School and currently attends the Midland Adult Services Employment Program. Through Midland’s Supported Group Employment Program, Jonathan is employed at Top Safety Products, Inc in Branchburg.

Susan Lodge

Ms. Susan Lodge is the Director of Content Strategy for Automatic Data Processing, Inc (ADP), a human resources management software and services company, headquartered in Roseland, New Jersey. She also serves as Content Chair of ADP Thrive – a business resource group that educates associates about living with disabilities.

Ms. Lodge’s involvement with Midland began in 2021 when her son Aidan enrolled as a student at The Midland School. Shortly after, she joined The Midland Foundation’s Film Committee, helping to strengthen the fundraising event and awareness of Midland and its mission.

Ms. Lodge holds a Bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College. Her commitment to the special needs community extends to P.G. Chambers School where she has served on the Board of Trustees since 2017. She is also involved in the Women’s Association of Morristown Medical Center.

Ms. Lodge became a member of The Midland Corporation Board of Trustees in 2023. She currently serves on The Midland Foundation’s Film Fundraising Committee.

Sandra M. LoPiccolo, Board Vice Chair

Ms. LoPiccolo serves as the Chief Communications Officer for Bedtime Math Foundation in Summit, NJ where her responsibilities include public relations, marketing, brand management and effective use of social media. Ms. LoPiccolo is also a member of the Special Education Parent Advisory Committee in South Orange-Maplewood.

 

Prior to joining the nonprofit world, LoPiccolo took on multiple roles within CBS News in New York rising to the rank of Producer for CBS News Sunday Morning. During her time at CBS News she was a five-time News and Documentary Emmy Awards nominee. Since 2010 she has focused on nonprofit work, including active leadership roles within the Junior League of the Oranges and Short Hills where she was honored in 2012.

Ms. LoPiccolo holds a B.A. in history from Hamilton College.

Ms. LoPiccolo is a parent of a child currently attending The Midland School. In 2016, she began as a volunteer with The Midland Foundation and was named co-chair of the “Midland Goes to the Movies with PNC” event in 2018. In 2018, Ms. LoPiccolo was appointed to The Midland Corporation Board of Trustees and serves on the Advancement, Strategic Planning and Governance Committees.

Andy Nowack

Mr. Andy Nowack is the Executive Vice President of Premier Development, a residential real estate development company that specializes in multifamily and single family development and construction. He has more than 25 years of experience and expertise in the housing sector.

Mr. Nowack’s involvement with Midland began in 2016 with a partnership between Midland and Premier Development to launch Midland’s first apartment complex placement in Hillsborough for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). This special needs housing project grew to include other venues and additional apartments in the Midland’s Community Residential Services program.

Prior to his Board appointment, Mr. Nowack has served on The Midland Foundation’s Golf Committee since 2019, leveraging business connections to strengthen the fundraising event and awareness of Midland and its mission.

Mr. Nowack holds a Bachelor’s degree from Lafayette College. Mr. Nowack currently serves as a Trustee on the Central Jersey Housing Resource Center’s Board, is Trustee of Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church, and previously served as a Trustee of the Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church.

Peter Phillips, Sr.

Before his retirement, Mr. Phillips was founder and owner of Byram Healthcare Centers, Inc. He began his career as an accountant while attending college in the evening by working for a small local CPA firm in Jersey City, NJ.  Upon receiving his college degree accepted a position with Ernst & Ernst (now Ernst & Young) and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New Jersey.

Mr. Phillips is the current Treasurer and Member of PLANNJ Board of Directors. He is also former Treasurer and Member of the Board of Directors of Allies and the former Chairman and current member of Regional Family Support Planning Council #3 established by the NJ Legislature to advise the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) about the community needs of individuals with disabilities. In 2019, Mr. Phillips was appointed by Governor Murphy to the “Independent Fee for Service Oversight Committee” chartered to review the current fee for service rates and services and to advice DDD of deficiencies in the system.

Two of Mr. Phillip’s children attended The Midland School, graduated, and both currently work at the Midland Adult Services Employment Program. His son currently resides in a Midland group home. Mr. Phillips was an original member of the Midland Advanced Programs (MAP) Board of Trustees in 1987 until June of 2000 when he became a member of The Midland Corporation Board of Trustees and served as Board Finance Officer. Mr. Phillips is Chair of the Finance / Audit Committee and a member of the Executive and also Strategic Planning / Personnel Committees, and a member of The Midland Foundation’s Golf Classic Committee

Mary T. Rehus

Ms. Rehus is currently Business Program Manager with Microsoft Corporation where she has been employed since 2006 in various sales positions within the Enterprise Services organization. Prior to joining Microsoft, she spent more than 30 years in the Information Technology Field working at Dun and Bradstreet, Oracle, and FYI Technology Solutions.

Ms. Rehus earned a BS in Accounting and Computer Science at Rider College and an MBA in Management at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Ms. Rehus’ sister is a Midland School Alumnus and currently works at the Midland Adult Services Employment Program. Ms. Rehus became a member of The Midland Corporation Board of Trustees in 2011. She currently serves on the Advancement and Facilities and Technology Committees and The Midland Foundation’s “Move for Midland” Fundraising Committee.

Theresa Scheuble

Ms. Scheuble is a Design Director, for Johnson & Johnson’s Global Surgery Group in Somerville.  She is responsible for New Growth Platform(s) leveraging her broad engineering and leadership experience.  Ms. Scheuble has over 25 years of industry experience in Medical Device, Automotive, Industrial Equipment and Aerospace industries. Ms. Scheuble has been with Johnson & Johnson for 18 years and held various R&D positions within J&J including R&D Leader for Ethicon’s Women’s Health Division, Cordis’ Endovascular R&D, Advanced R&D, Cardiology Operations and Pilot Plant. During her career with J&J, she led the development and implementation of 14 portfolio enhancing products maintaining #1 market share position. She has also spent 2 years within J&J’s Consumer division responsible for RD&E in the Topical Health Care Franchise.  Ms. Scheuble holds both a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering Science with an emphasis in Design from New Jersey Institute of Technology and is a Design Excellence Black Belt.  She is an Advisory Board Member and Thought Leader for Frost & Sullivan for Innovation in NPD and Medical Devices.  Ms. Scheuble has 1 issued patent and 5 filed patents for Coated Medical Devices, Drug Delivery Device and Improved MRI.

Ms. Scheuble became a member of The Midland School Board in June 2011.  She became a member of the Midland Corporation Board June, 2012.  Ms. Scheuble currently serves on the Executive and Governance / Membership Committees.  Ms. Scheuble has supported the organization in many ways generously giving both time and money in support of Midland’s programs.

 

Frank Settipani

Mr. Settipani joined CBS NEWS in 1981, where he currently anchors CBS “News on the Hour” radio broadcasts during morning drive-time on stations from coast to coast. Over the years, his assignments as a CBS NEWS correspondent have taken him from the beaches of Normandy to the rain forests of Brazil and the presidential campaign trail. He chronicled the rise of democracy in Nicaragua, economic summits in this country and Europe and the aftermath of the siege at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas. Prior to joining CBS NEWS, he was a reporter and anchor at United Press International, Dow Jones and New York radio stations WNEW and WINS.

Mr. Settipani is a past trustee of the New Jersey Center for Outreach and Services for Autism Community.

Mr. Settipani’s son graduated from The Midland School and currently attends Midland Adult Services employment program.  Mr. Settipani became a member of the Midland Foundation Board of Trustees in June 2010 where he served on various fund-raising committees.  Mr. Settipani currently serves on the Advancement and Facility/Technology Committees.   Mr. Settipani has supported the organization in many ways, generously giving both time and financial support to Midland’s programs.

John Tegeler, Board Chair

Mr. Tegeler was a pharmaceutical executive with more than 10 years of experience at the global vice president level including strategic leadership for up to 500 R & D associates in 5 countries and management responsibility for an annual budget of up to $120M. As a global R&D management board member he contributed to long range planning and capital management for a division of 1,300 associates worldwide and was liaison with the global Patent department for strategic purposes. His career spanned 34 years at Sanofi US and 5 predecessor companies in Bridgewater.

Mr. Tegeler holds a BS in Chemistry at SUNY Albany, a PhD in Organic Chemistry at SUNY Buffalo, and an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University.

Mr. Tegeler has been an active contributor to the local community. He led one of the United Way campaigns at Hoechst Celanese raising over $250K.  He also served on the National Disautonomia Research Foundation Board, a patient advocacy group. He was appointed Trustee at Immaculate Conception parish for annual budget review for submission to the diocese office in Metuchen.  Additionally, Mr. Tegeler participates in Family Support Coalition of NJ and Family Support Council of Somerset & Union Counties. He also participates in activities by PLAN NJ, Our House Foundation and Cherished Creations.

Mr. Tegeler’s son, graduated from The Midland School and currently attends the Midland Adult Services Employment Program. Mr. Tegeler and his wife served on the Midland Parent Association Board. Mr. Tegeler joined The Midland Corporation Board of Trustees in 2015. He currently serves on the Strategic Planning and Personnel Committee and Facility / Technology Committee.

Katherine Valasek

Ms. Katherine (Katya) A. Valasek currently works at the Law School Admission Council as a Senior LSAC Ambassador. Prior to her tenure at LSAC, she worked for almost a decade at Seton Hall Law, serving her final years as the Director of Admissions. Before Seton Hall, Ms. Valasek worked as a legal and client recruitment executive at Lucas Group in NYC, Sphericality in Flemington, and AV Search Consultants in Skillman.  Ms. Valasek holds a J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law and a B.A. in Political Science from Drew University. She was published in the Michigan State Law Review, and also served as Associate Editor of the journal.

Ms. Valasek brings a passion and expertise in recruitment, admissions, and marketing to the Midland Board.
