Career Education

The Midland School - Career Education

To help our students make the transition from childhood to adult life, all students are introduced to a variety of career areas and develop an awareness of appropriate work attitudes and behaviors, through classroom lessons, field trips and guest speakers.

Students aged 5-14 begin to develop appropriate work skills and behaviors as they participate in the career exploration program. Students improve their abilities to attend to tasks, follow directions and work cooperatively with peers as they complete various work activities. These standardized activities include dissemination, assembly and packaging tasks.

Students aged 15–21 develop and improve specific work-related skills and behaviors as they participate in Midland’s career preparation program. Students begin to understand the importance of quality control and time constraints as they relate to the job at hand.
