Midland Congratulates Mr. Tony Oxford on his HERO Award During DSP Week!

On Sept. 14, in honor of Direct Support Professional (DSP) Week, Midland DSP, Mr. Tony Oxford received the NJACP Hero Award. Below is the nomination that was submitted on his behalf:

Tony is not just a Direct Support Professional; he embodies the very essence of what it means to be a Hero in our community. With over two decades of committed service at Midland, Tony has consistently showcased an unparalleled dedication to the well-being and growth of adults with disabilities, helping them to navigate the challenging terrains of job training, preparation, and residential life in both the Midland Work Center and Prevocational Class.

His unwavering commitment is further demonstrated in his regular support of individuals at the Ryland Inn group-supported employment site. Beyond his designated responsibilities, Tony stretches his dedication by contributing extra hours at the Group homes, ensuring the welfare of individuals even after his regular shift and assisting in bridging any staff shortfalls.

One of the standout characteristics of Tony is his ability to forge close, trusting relationships with the individuals he supports. His consistent professionalism, combined with a genuine affection, ensures that every individual feels valued, cared for, and above all, respected. Tony’s philosophy of treating everyone as equals, irrespective of their disabilities, has not only earned him respect among the individuals but also positioned him as a role model for newer staff members, whom he gladly mentors.

Midland’s exemplary culture owes a significant part to dedicated professionals like Tony. His presence, service, and ethos have sculpted an environment of trust, respect, and mutual growth. It’s not just about the years of service but about the countless lives he has positively impacted and the standard he has set for what it truly means to be a Hero in the community.

As Midland puts forth this nomination, we wholeheartedly believe that Tony Oxford deserves to be recognized at the NJACP’s 4th annual Heroes event. His dedication, unwavering support, and deep-rooted commitment to the well-being of individuals with disabilities make him a true embodiment of a Hero.
